    1. SIr/Madam,
I, as individual want do some business activities in Istanbul. What are the ways to have permission to conduct business activities in Istanbul. (I am reluctant to register business as Private Limited company). Can I conduct business activities if I buy some immovable property like apartment or a shop (Without constituting business as legal entity).
If buying immovable property, how the procedure will start. I am coming to Turkey for 10 days from 21 June 2018 to 30 June 2018. Please guide me.

    2. dear expect guides,
I would like to live in Turkey, I understand i should own a property beforehand.
Does renting accommodation suffice? Should i rent my accommodation before applying or can i do so before?
Can i apply in turkey after getting my accommodation sorted?
How do i move my things after i obtain my visa if i’m in turkey at the time? Someone told me i need to get a list authorised by someone at the consulate in my home country, is this true?

      King regards,
      Bianca

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

Renting an accomodation is enough, you do not need to buy one to apply for residence permit. You should rent it before applying because your address informations will be required during application process. The only way to apply for residence permit is while
you are already in Turkey, you can not submit your application from abroad.

        Kind Regards

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

Foreigners can obtain short-term residence permit if they are:
        – owners of the property in Turkey
        – owners of company in Turkey
        – spouse of Turkish citizen
        – family members of foreigner having work permit in Turkey.
Our company provides services regarding these residence permit types. İf you are one of above, we can assist you to apply for residence permit after you arrive to Turkey.
Under another conditions foreigners who can prove their source of income from abroad and their purpose of stay in Turkey can apply for short term residence permit. This document is mostly granted for 5-6 months period of stay and can not be extended but there is also possibility that the application would be rejected.
To work in Turkey, first of all you need to find a job. Only your employer can apply for your work permit, you can not submit the application by yourself. Unfortunately, we can not help you to find a job but if you find one, we can help your employer obtaining your work permit.

        Best Regards,

    5. Dear Expat Guide Team,

Greetings! I would like to get your help on my below question.

Question: Can my resident permit be renewed?

I have procured an apartment on monthly installment basis with 40% down payment. I have notarized contract copy of the apartment stating i am owner of the apartment. But i do not have deed of good yet. It shall be provided after finishing all installment.

      Best Regards

      Arif Shariati

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

As a property owner in Turkey, you have a right to extend your residence permit but you will need to provide immigration office with deed of good to apply on a basis of your investment.

        Kind Regards

    6. Dear ATA Institutional Consultancy,

I hope this email finds you well. I have been offered a job in Turkey however, there are big question marks around the paperwork. The company told me they would be able to get me residency but the work permit would take 4 months and checking my higher education degree would take 6 months.

They told me that these things are easy to get, however, they pointed out that they were not sure of the visa regulations for a family. Please note the following about my family:

Sarah (that is me): US passport
      My daughter: US passport
      My husband: Lebanon passport

*Also please note that we are currently living in Lebanon.

What we want to do, is when I start my work in Turkey, my family will stay with me in Turkey and we could live there, as a family.

Could you please tell me: What type of long-term residency can I get for my 2 family members (tourist, family, long-term)? Can one residency be changed to another (for instance a tourist be converted into a family one)? Also, what are the costs with your company, and how much time would it take?

Thank you very much for your time!

      Sincerely,

      Sarah

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

At first, your family would need to apply for short-term touristic residence permit independently but after you would work in Turkey for one year, they can apply for family residence permit basing on your job in Turkey. Residence permits can be converted to another type without leaving Turkey and obtaining another visa. Residence permit application process might last up to 3-4 months and can be started only after arrival to Turkey while visa is still valid.

        Best Regards

        1. Hello there,

Thank you for your reply back. Well, this is quite good news. However, regarding the short-term touristic residence permit, how often are these permits accepted? Meaning, what is the rate of acceptance and is the acceptance rate based on the person’s nationality?

Also, for both the short-term touristic residence permit and the family residence permit, could you tell me if there is a need to prove finances are available (such as through a work contract, or bank statement)? Please, could you tell me more about this? Thank you!

    7. Sir I want to know that I am deported from turkey I leave my passport photocopy with passports control office in Atatürk airport.
Can I apply now for a visa?
      Or ban?
And if ban then for many years?
      Thank you

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İf you were banned to re-enter Turkey, the officer at the aiport must inform you about this fact and also about the period of time during which you are not allowed to re-enter Turkey. İf you are not sure if you are allowed to enter Turkey, you should contact Turkish Consulate in your country.

    8. To whom it may concern.

I am a South African citizen living in Istanbul for the past 3years I am currently teaching English.

I recently learnt about the new laws regarding the residence permit, I have a work permit which will expire in July, do I need a residence permit I order to apply for a new work permit? And if you can you help me with the process

Your response would be greatly appreciated.

      Kind regards.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İf you find another job before your current work permit expires, it can be directly transfered to another company if your current and future employer agree for transfer. İf you would like to apply for new work permit after the expiration date, you would need to obtain residence permit valid at least 6 months first. After receiving residence permit card, your work permit application can be submitted. Otherwise you would need to go back to your country and your work permit application must be submitted from abroad.

    9. Hello,

My name is Tereza Honcova and I am from Czech Republic. I need a help and I do not know who can help me.

I applied for work permit 18.04.2018, I´ve got reference number from my Embassy (Embassy in Prague), which I sent to my hotel. Unfortunately, same day (18.04) one of Embassy staff wrote me an e-mail, that I have some mistakes in application and I must contact my hotel, because they must cancel my application and then I need to apply again. At that moment I contacted my hotel and I told them about my situation. They applied for cancelling of my application 27.04. (they wrote me). Today is more than one month and I can not apply again because Embassy has it still at system.

Can you please help me and write me what can I do? I need to apply again, because I really want to work in Turkey.
I try to write to Ministry of Labour and i also try to call, but nobody answered.

      Thank you for your answer.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

The hotel as your employer should contact Ministry of Labour as your situation might be caused by recent delays in application procedures but also some mistake might have occured in cancellation process. Contacting Ministry of Labour is the only way to solve this problem.

        Kind Regards

I visit Turkey 4-6 times a year since many years and I would like to apply for Residence permit.

I read in you homepage that the

      1) The residency permit for 2 years has changed to 6 months- is that correct?
Or has it changed to one year?

      2) Do i have to show my income in Europe for the last 6 months? ( Is that correct?)

      3) Somebody told me that the Turkish government wanted to see if I have money in Turkish account- is that correct? ( I have a Turkish bank account) . How much money is then needed?

I would be glad to get answers to these questions and if I can then apply for residency I will contact you.

Can you provide more details with residence application form?

      1. Unfortunately, it is not possible to apply for residence permit after your visa was expired. Although you can try to contact immigration office to explain that you were mislead with no information about rejection of your application during or after appointment, it is not likely to happen that decision of the authorities could be changed.

Our service fee for work permit application within Turkey is 900 TL+Vat. Also, to submit work permit application within Turkey foreigner must have residence permit with total validity duration of at least 6 months.

Please provide me with a list of countries that can get Turkish citizenship by purchasing property in Turkey?

    18. Hello!
I am from Afghanistan. I have my three children and my husband’s mother living with me in Turkey for a year. My husband is dead. Last year we bought a house here and applied for residence permit. While applying we were told to put my name, my son’s name ( who is 19) and my mother-in-law’s name on the ‘Tapu’ (the property document) as co-owners of the property we bought. We did everything and everything went smoothly and we all got our residence permits. However, this year while we are applying for the renewal of our residence permits, we are being told by the Immigration office to cut my mother-in-law’s name from the ‘Tapu’ because she doesn’t have blood relation with us. They say it’s the law. My question is “is this correct what they are saying to us? if yes, then why last year they told us to put her name on the ‘Tapu’? And if we get her name removed from the ‘Tapu’, will she be given residence permit?” Do people with blood relations can only be co-owners of a property?

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

There is no law stating that two persons who are not related can not be co-owners of the property. If your mother in law would not be mentioned in tapu, she can not obtain residence permit for property owners and would need to apply for another kind of permit.

    21. Hello, I would like to relocate to Turkey with my wife and 4 children. I am a Canadian passport holder, with professional experience and post grad degrees. My wife and children are Australian passport holders. At this stage we are not interested in work visa. I would like to know what avenues exist for me to come to Turkey long term with a view to eventually obtaining residency/citizenship. We would be willing to forfeit our current citizenships in exchange for Turkish citizenship. I currently work from home as a language consultant with Companies based in China. Would I be able to move to Turkey, stay long term, and continue working in my current capacity? Any info you can provide would be most welcomed. Thanks

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

In order to relocate with your family and stay here for a long term, you are supposed to purchase a property in Turkey. This way you can obtain residence permit for property owners for yourself and your family members. This kind of permit is usually given for one year at first and later can be extended for up to three years each time. If you stay in Turkey for 5 years uninterruptedly as a property owner, you will be eligible for citizenship application. As a residence permit holder you are allowed to work from home for companies based abroad.

I live in Saudi Arabia and I married a Syrian man and now I am pregnant
The marriage contract is fixed in the Saudi court
What papers do you need to fix marriage at the Turkish Embassy?
Does the newborn get Turkish nationality directly?

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

You need to present your marriage certificate in Turkish embassy in Saudi Arabia in order to certify the document there. As you are Turkish citizen, your child has also right to be Turkish citizen by birth.

A company that employs 80 Turkish citizen and 1 foreigner promised to give me a job. They are currently renewing work permit for the foreigner who is working there. Afterwards, can they apply work permit for me too or they must employ 5 more Turkish before me. OR since they already employed 80 Turkish, they can also employ me?

      Thanks.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

If the company already employs 80 Turkish, your employer can directly apply for your work permit as the minimum is 5 Turkish citizens per each foreigner employed in the company.

You do not need a work permit to invest in Turkey, however if later you are planning to do a business activity within Turkey, you must apply for work permit as a shareholder of the company.

        Thank you for your comment.

If you did not spend the time that you are allowed to be within Turkey on your current visa, you can enter the country until the last day of its validity. However, you are not supposed to stay in Turkey longer than your visa’s validity unless you apply for residence permit before expiration of your visa.

    28. Hello everyone,

Please I need some help regarding my husband health insurance, on the 2. July he will be 65 years old, and I read that people over 65 years old, does not need a health insurance for RP.

Does he need an insurance if he apply for RP during May 2019?

Or he should wait til the 2.July, then he apply for RP?

If he does not need health insurance for RP, what he will write in the insurance-fields on RP-application?

      I appreciate your answer.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

If the application would be lodged before your husband turns 65, he must have health insurance purchased within Turkey. It is not required to fill health insurance policy informations for applicants over 65 years old.
