    1. dear sir i m retired medical official age 47 now i want to go Istanbul by tourist visa after this in visit visa period i want to get residence permit .is it possible ? how much money will b needed for r4esidence permit ?

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

Touristic residence permit is mostly not being granted in İstanbul anymore. İf you are considering staying in Turkey, you need to purchase a property to obtain residence permit in İstanbul, which will be possible to extend.

        Kind Regards

        1. for 06 month as i said so need working and residence permit if i found my suitable business field so i will start but if not so i will return to my country within 1-2 month

    2. Someone told me that it cost around 4000 USD living in turkey for 06 month and do own business is that true or not???

      1. There is no governmental fee of 4000 USD for residence or work permit. Fees are as in the article. To do your own business in Turkey as a foreigner you need to open a company with the capital of minimum 10.000 TL, which enables you to do general trade, open a bank account and buy a property in Turkey without work permit. To do business activity as an owner or shareholder, you need to obtain work permit and for this purpose your company must fulfill requirements of Ministry of Labour, which are as follows:
        – paid capital of the company must be at least 100.000 TL
        – there must be 5 Turkish citizens employed per each foreigner in the company

    3. I want to ask you about how much fee for pakistani to obtain a immigration. I heard it cost 4000 USD is it true or not??

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

Fees depends on kind of permit you are interested in. Cost of one year residence permit fee for citizens of Pakistan is arounf 400 TL. You can read more about work and residence permit fees in our article below:

    4. Hi.. I am from India and I’ve done my engineering and I’m looking to work in Turkey. How can I apply for a job in turkey from India? And

      1. Hello,

Unfortunately, we are not job agency and we can not help you to find job. You can search for one or internet and your future employer can apply for work permit before your arrival to Turkey. Otherwise, you can come to Turkey and search for a job while already here and if you obtain residence permit valid for at least 6 months, your work permit application can be submitted within Turkey.

    5. Dear sir, I am a Bangladeshi living in Northern Cyprus. Recently i got Turkish transit visa for a stay of three days and i will come to Turkey soon. I intent to live in Turkey and finally be a turkish citizen. Now what can i do and how to do? Please answer me….

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

You can not apply for residence permit basing on transit visa. To live in Turkey and after 5 years apply for a Turkish citizen you need to invest in a property in Turkey or find a job and your employer can apply for your work permit via Turkish consulate in Your country.

        Kind Regards,

    6. HI, If I buy property worth of 50,000 Euro and take temporary residence , after how many years of stay in Turkey, I can apply for Citizenship ?

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İf you stay in Turkey for 5 years uninterruptedly basing on a residence permit for property owners and fulfill all of the other requirements for applications, after 5 years you can apply for citizenship. To apply for a residence permit for property owners, the property must be already built as you will need to have title deed to apply.

    7. Good morning,

I did not know about the overstay rules in Turkey and I became ill twice and debilitated shortly after during my last entry stay there. And no one told me that I had broken any rules about staying in the country – I was told to remain here until I was recovered and strong enough to make the long trip home – and so I stayed.

I tried to make a “test” flight to see how I would manage with flying so I took a short two-hour trial flight to Israel where I stayed for a time and did some sightseeing. However, when I tried to leave Istanbul, I was stopped at the airport – I had to pay TL 1700 approximately for a long overstay which I only then became aware of.

Officers at the airport told me if I paid, I could leave and take another visa (3 month) and return to Istanbul any time I wanted – so I paid and I left. Nothing more was said.

While away I booked my flight to come back to Istanbul as all my things were here – I needed to pick everything up before going back home. However, on re-entering Istanbul I was stopped again and told that I could only re-enter if I promised to make a resident’s permit application within ten days. I had no choice – I had to enter in order to pack my belongings and arrange travel to my home in Canada. They also said that if I did not make the residents permit now, that I would NEVER be allowed back in Turkey.

The officers at the airport could not provide a phone number or address for the government immigration office where I am supposed to make an appointment – I have looked all over the internet and cannot find the information I need to make an appointment:

      – what is the governments website address
      – what phone number do I call – how do I make an appointment
      – what will actually happen to me if I don’t apply for residency?
      – if I don’t apply for residency – can I re-enter Turkey again in the future with a regular travel visa?
      – if I comply and go for a residency appointment, how much will a resident’s permit cost and how long will it take
      – what documents do I need to support a resident’s permit?
      – can I go to see someone earlier than 10 days (I need to be home before 10 days comes!)
I’ve paid a lot of money to make amends for the overstay and should not continue to be penalized.

Also I may come to Turkey again in the future to visit (plus I have a small online shop I’ve set up to promote local handiwork and that may require future visits as well). But I am not interested in becoming a resident or a citizen at this time.

I do not have much time and also I need to try and get back to Canada in less than 10 days as both of my parents are very ill and are probably not going to last much longer – it is urgent for me to leave Istanbul.

Please respond as soon as you can as this is urgent.

      Best regards,

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

We are very sorry about the results of disinformation at the airport. The officer should have informed you that you should not enter Turkey for another 3 months, otherwise you enter the country conditionally – need to sign a document you did receive and apply for residence permit within 10 days. İf you do not apply for residence permit within 10 days, you would be most probably banned to re-enter Turkey for some period of time. Maximum ban is 5 years but for a short period of time it is usually not so long. İf the ban would be imposed, you will be informed at the airport about the period of time during which you can not enter Turkey. After this period of time you can come back obtaining regular touristic visa. İf you decide to apply for residence permit in İstanbul now, your application most probably would be rejected if you are not property owner in Turkey or married with a Turkish citizen. You can only apply via e-ikamet website, you can not take the appointment via phone or by visiting immigration office. After applying in the system, within one month you will receive a message about appointment date. Whole application process takes up to 3-4 months and there is a lot of expenses connected with collecting required documents. You also need to present non criminal record from your country. That is why we would not recommend application for touristic residence permit in İstanbul.

        Kind Regards,

        1. Hi – Could you please remove my name from my posted comments? Thank you – ALSO – I have tried the website many times but am getting an internal error and cannot read the security code to continue. Is there another way to make an appointment – perhaps by phone? I’m running out of time – the government gives false information (and so I return to Turkey unknowing) and the website does not even work.

If I had known that I could not have come back for 3 months I would not have returned at all – this is a real problem. I could have tried to go directly home – they should have informed me. What recourse do I have now since the government reps at the airport gave me the wrong information??

          With thanks again!

          1. The only way to apply for residence permit is application online. İf the system does not work, you should contact immigration office as you can have few days more to apply due to this problem, which is caused by the system and you have no influence on delays in your application.
As you know, not knowing the law does not excuse you from obeying it, that is why even though you were clearly given wrong information at the airport, governmental institutions does not accept is as a reason for overstaying in Turkey.

            1. Thanks for replying – I have looked everywhere for a phone number or email address and cannot find anything – could you please tell me the number or email of the government office to call? Do they respond to emails quickly? Thanks!

            2. You should call 157, which is official communication center for foreigners’ number

    8. Hello there,
I am currently in Istanbul Turkey visiting my partner who is a Turkish citizen and has been working in Istanbul since March. I am looking into applying for a residence permit but it sounds really hard. I have not been working for the last four months due to the fact that I was travelling. At the moment we are living together and he earns enough to support both of us. You mention that there is an option to apply for touristic residence permit for the purpose of marriage (we are planning to get married within the year anyway). Do you think it is possible to apply for a permit this way considering the recent changes ?
      Many thanks and kind regards.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

As long as you are not married, your partner being your supporter or your plans of getting married would not be any advantage while applying for residence permit. You can apply individually but costs of collecting all of the documents and governmental fee will be high expenses and in result most probably your application would not be accepted. That is why we would not recommend applying for touristic residence permit in İstanbul. After getting married you will be entitled to apply for family residence permit.

    9. 1.IS THERE ANY MINIMUM FOR BUYING PROPERTY IN TURKEY OR IT CAN BE IN ANY BUDGET ?
2.IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCES FROM MIGRATION LAWS IN ISTANBUL WITH OTHER CITIES IN TURKEY?
3.IF ANY OF SPOUSES APPLY FOR RESIDENCY PERMIT IN TURKEY THE OTHER ONE WILL BE COVERED? OR THEY SHOULD APPLY SEPERATLY ? AS WE ARE GOING TO APPLY FOR RESIDENCY PERMIT THROUGH BUYING PROPERTIES

      1. Hello,

        1. There is no minimal value of the property
        2. İn İstanbul touristic residence permit is mostly not being granted anymore and it is not possible to extend touristic residence permit for most cases
        3. Both of spouses should apply for residence permit independently but it is enough if one of them is a property owner

    10. Hi. My husband has secured admission in the Masters programme of Bogazici University. We plan to stay there for the duration of his masters. While he will enter the country on student visa, I am unsure about what will I should apply for, and how long should that visa last for. Will I be eligible to apply for residence permit while he is a student there?

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

As your husband will come to Turkey as a student, he can not be your supporter for residence permit application, you need to apply independently. Touristic residence permit in İstanbul is mostly granted for 5-6 months with no possibility to be extended, that is why the best solution for you to stay with your husband in Turkey would be obtaining work permit or investment in a property.

    12. We are a Muslim family of 3 people who want to come and live in Turkey after my retirement. We are all U.S. Citizens.

I am 70 years old and want to retire, by February 2019, and come to live in Turkey with my wife who is 67 years old and my disabled son who is 43 years old. I plan to rent an apartment or a house initially.
My monthly retirement income plus my Social Security income will be about $3200.

      My questions are:

      1. Can I travel to Turkey on a visitor’s visa and apply for residence permit for myself and my family and get a family residence permit?
      2. What documents and paperwork do I need to submit to immigration authority there (Bank statement, health insurance, house rent contract, etc.).
      3. What kind of bank statement do I need? Just the balance amount?
      4. Do we all need health insurance?

      Thank you very much.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

You and your family need to obtain touristic visa to come to Turkey and apply for residence permit. As a foreigner who is not working in Turkey you can not apply for family residence permit, all of the members of your family must apply for residence permit independently. Documents are dependent on city you are going to stay in and type of residence permit. İf you are planning to live in Turkey, the best option for you and your family would be investment in a property, which will allow you to apply for residence permit which will be possible to be extended multiple times. You should have bank statements showing your income for last 6 months. Health insurance is not required for children under 15 years old and adults over 65 years old.

        Kind Regards,

I’m from Iran and about to buy an appartment in Bursa to apply for a long term residence permit. I have some questions:
      1. If I’m the main sponsor of my family then is it ok that the appartment tapu be in the name of my wife?
      2. Do I need to bring a bank statement regarding my last 6 months bank account tunrover?
      Best regards
      Vahid

      1. Dear Vahid,
        Thank you for your comment.

İt does not matter if you are the main sponsor, tapu can be in your wife’s name. Bank statements are not required while applying for residence permit as a property owner in Turkey.

    14. Hello, I want to buy an apartment for my wife and kids and want them to move to Turkey . I would be the financier of them and would take all the living expenses of my family .SO I have few questions in my mind.
      1) Can we apply the Temporary residence for my wife and family including me (I would only visit time to time. Family will live permanently) .
      2) are my kids allow to take admission in school, colleges and Universities as they r depended on me?
      3) After how long they can apply for Citizenship ?
      4) Can my wife apply for work permit/Business after Temporary residence ?
      5) What is the duration they must stay in Turkey during the year?

      Regards

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İf you purchase a property in your name, your wife and children will be also entitled to obtain residence permit and your children can take admission in schools within Turkey. İf you, as a main sponsor, would only visit Turkey time to time and would not be able to apply for Turkish citizenship basing on your investment, your family also can not benefit from your property this way. They can apply after 5 years by the decision of authorities if all of the requirements would be fulfilled. One of them is that they should not spend out of Turkey more that 6 months within 5 years. When your wife finds a job in Turkey, her employer can apply for her work permit within Turkey if she would have residence permit with total validity of at least 6 months. Foreigners can not apply for work permit in their own name or without finding a job, only an employer can apply for an employer.

        Thank you for your comment.

Unfortunately, we can not provide you with any solution as long as you do not know the exact reason of not being allowed to enter the country. You should contact Turkish Embassy to solve the problem, otherwise even if you would receive a visa or your employer would apply for work permit, there might be legal consequences of your visit in Turkey.

      1. Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have informations about job offers in Turkey. You can find one via websites or arrive to Turkey on touristic visa to search for a job here and attend job interviews. When you find a job your employer must apply for your work permit via Turkish embassy in your country or if you obtain residence permit valid for at least 6 months, application can be submitted within Turkey. Work permit application can not be proceeded basing on visit or touristic visa. You can obtain a work visa after your work permit application would be accepted by the Ministry of Labour. Only an employer can apply for work permit in Turkey, you can not submit the application by yourself. Our company can assist your employer throughout the application process so the documents will be complete and we will track all of the the procedures to avoid any difficulties.

    17. Hello,

I have been hired by a university in Istanbul to teach English. In June, I filled out necessary paperwork and gave the HR department my notarized passport and diplomas. I checked in yesterday about the process, to see if the work permit had been approved. They told me that they have sent everything to Yok, but that they don’t start approving work permits until closer to the start of the academic year, so it would probably be approved by October. However, I would start teaching in September. Is it legal for me to teach without an approved permit for one month?

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İt is not legal to work until your work permit application will be approved by Ministry of Labour and you receive yor work permit card.

    18. Hi,

I’m considering buying an apartment, getting the residence and then moving with my family to Turkey.

Because the real estate options are numerous (websites, social media…), can you please point out some reputable real estate companies?

Also are installment agreements in buying properties common in Turkey? If Yes, how would that impact the residence permit? (for example: total unit price equals to or exceeds 170,000TL but deposited down payment 25% of the total, does that still qualify for the for the residence permit)

      Thanks a lot

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

To apply for residence permit as a property owner, you will need to have title deeds, which is given to the owner after all of the installments would be paid. Otherwise you can apply basing on a sales contract but in this case there is no guarantee that your application will be approved.
Our company provides services regarding purchasing property in Turkey, you can contact us and we can help you to find a property adapted to your needs and budget.

    20. Me and my fiancée intend to marry in Antalya – Turkey, and she is a Turkish National citizen, i am a Portuguese national citizen. We have both papers for this step to be legalized in Portugal with both my documents and my future wife´s being resolved by the department of the Portuguese Government. Will i be able to stay in Turkey upon marriage ?

I would like to enquire about the possibility of another alternative in obtaining Turkish Residence Permit being a foreigner. How is this obtainable ? Our aim is to get married and to live in Antalya where we have an apartment. My wife works in Antalya, but i don´t have a job yet in Antalya, but i have great prospects in finding one upon arrival.

Upon this, which would be your advice for the best way to relocate from Portugal to Turkey to marry my fiancée ?

I would be appreciated if you help me to give me full information regarding the above if possible.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İf you would get married in Portugal, after you register your marriage in Turkey as well, you can apply for family residence permit. İf you are planning to come to Turkey before you get married, you can apply for touristic residence permit for the purpose of marriage and later transfer it into family residence permit. Even if you marry Turkish citizen, when you find a job, you will have to obtain work permit. Only the employer can apply for your work permit, which will be your residence permit as well.

I have private issues to be finished thereso is there any problems to come with a tourist visa and how long can I stay not to be over stayed.

And another question.if I have a Multiple tourist visa.can I apply for a work visa from my home country. While my tourist visa is still valid.

      Thanks in advance.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

The period you can stay in Turkey depends on your nationality and kind of visa. Only your employer can apply for work permit. You do not need any kind of visa to apply via consulate while you are in your country. After work permit application would be accepted, you receive work visa. Work permit application is the only way to obtain a work visa.

    22. Dear ATA team,

I need your support in an important issue.
I moved to Turkey on 2015 because of my marriage with a Turkish citizen . I received my First resident permit valid for 2 years, but in short time I also had a job and I obtain the work permit. My first work permit was for 1 year, than renewed for 2 more year. It is valid till February 2019. The issue is that the company that I was working is in closing procedures , and they interrupted the contract with us.
I have the ” Çıkış” on date 25 of June 2018. But my foreign number is still active.
I found a new job in mean time, and they want to proceed with application for my work permit. Do you have any suggestion for me?

      Waiting your kindly reply
      All the best

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

İf your previous work permit was cancelled already, your new employer must apply for new one. For this purpose you need to obtain residence permit valid for at least 6 months or go to your country and the work permit application would be done via consulate with no need to obtain residence permit first. But if your work permit has not been cancelled yet, you can contact your previous employer and if they agree to make the transfer of your current work permit to the new company, that would be the fastest solution. Our company can help your employers with both tansfer and new application processes so you will receive your new work permit within a month.

    24. Please correct me: Tourist residence is now issued for 6 or one year only and can not be renewed?
Now what if I want to travel around turkey for more than a year ? Shall I go out of the country and re-enter to apply again for 1 year tourist residence with alll same procedures and time?
Now, when I enter I enter with 30 days only visit visa … what if the time needed to have the Tourist residence took more than 30 days .. can I still stay as waiting for my Tourist visa (beyond the 30 days) or what should I do? Thanks

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

After you apply for residence permit, even if your visa is not valid anymore, you can still stay in Turkey legally during the period between visa expiration date and receiving the residence permit card. You can apply for touristic residence permit only once so if you would not be able to extend it, you can not re-apply for this document after its expiration. Extension is possible only if you can prove your regular income from abroad for last 6 months before applying for the extension and your purpose of stay in Turkey.

        Best Regards,

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

You need to obtain touristic visa in order to apply for touristic residence permit. For another kind of permits like studying or work addequate visas are required.

    26. helo sir ,i am asking about hadimkoy oil co.yesterday he send me offer letter.and give ur email adress for visa processing .i am asking this is really or fake.please tell me about this,

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

We do not have detailed informations about this company so we can not confirm if this offer is real or not. But as we receive a lot of signals about fake companies asking employers to pay for work permit in advance, we strongly advice you to be careful and not to pay for any services unless you make sure it is not a scam.

        Best Regards,

    27. If I apply for a residence permit in Turkey, and my income is from abroad, would that income be taxable in Turkey? I will be paid by NON-Turkish clients/companies that are OUTSIDE of Turkey, but the money will come into my Turkish bank account.

      1. Hello,
        Thank you for your comment.

The income would be taxable in the country where you are employed/have your own business.

        Kind Regards
